DWF Xerxes

On April 26, 2009, Dallas blessed us with this striking Drum colt, whom we couldn't be more proud of.  Sired by the one and only Pendragon, a direct son of the late Lion King, Xerxes is everything we had prayed for and then some.

When Xerxes was three days old, he was diagnosed with a patent urachus, for which the only treatment is surgery.  We didn't hesitate; Xerxes was taken to surgery at 8 a.m. the following morning.  The surgery went without complication, though Xerxes developed a very large abscess afterwards and had to have three drains placed in his incision site.  After two weeks of shots, cleaning, and stall rest, Xerxes was finally given a clean bill of health.  One would think, with as many pokes and prods as Xerxes had endured, that he would be needle shy or unfriendly.  This was not the case at all; Xerxes is a very loving, trusting companion who thrives on attention.

Xerxes was sold in April of 2010 to a wonderful family in Tennessee where he will get to be the center of attention.  I look forward to watching Xerxes mature under the loving care of his new best friend, Seth.  Congratulations and Thank You for giving Xerxes such a wonderful home!
