Lazarus is Born
Duna was nice enough to wait until a little after 5 a.m. the morning of June 2nd to give birth to Lazarus, or "Roo" is he is known around the farm. As it was light outside, I was able to capture the whole birth with pictures. Once again, God blessed us with an uneventful foaling. However, we suspected Roo had a cleft palate as, after he would nurse, milk would come streaming out his nostrils. We had the vet out to check, but she couldn't find any evidence of cleft palate. We decided to play the watch and wait game, and, praise the Lord, milk quit streaming from his nostrils within twenty-four hours. The name Lazarus means "God has helped", and I firmly believe that God helped this colt or he wouldn't be here today. If Lazarus did indeed have a cleft palate, we would have chosen to put him down; therefore, "God has helped".
